AMERICANS SPENT AN ESTIMATED
$18.6 billion* LAST MOTHER'S DAY...
That's more than the annual budgets of the World Food Programme, World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and all UN Peacekeeping operations combined.
Which makes sense, right? If Mom was in charge of the world's finances, that's pretty much the call she'd make. Living in dignity's nice and all, but a gal's gotta have a spa day! Yeah, probably not. And that's probably why you like her. |
So this year, think about what it is you really want to celebrate about your mother. Her wisdom? Her acceptance? Her trust? Whatever it is, there's surely a better way to capture it than with a box of chocolates. ("I wouldn't be the person I am without you, Mom. And nothing expresses my love and respect more than candy!") Show your Mama she raised you right... |

Make your mother's day,
There are hundreds of millions of mothers in the developing world who struggle every day to give their children the things your Mom was able to give to you. Mothers who can't feed their kids, send them to school, or keep them safe. And you know your Mom would help them in a heartbeat if she could. So, let's make this their Mother's Day, too. Thank your mother by helping another. Help them give their children what you had, because you know you had it good. (And you can still throw in the spa day! Nothing wrong with that!) |
The organizations included were chosen because of the quality of the work they do helping women and girls throughout the developing world. All are well regarded and highly-rated non-profits where you can feel confident your money is being used wisely. Another Mother's Day has no affiliation with any of these groups.
